Leadership

BOB and lisa COWLING – SENIOR PASTOR

We first connected through planning a worship dance workshop together and this 'Brantford boy' and 'East-end girl' married in 1998.  We endeavor to strengthen our relationship through laughter, romance and a commitment to prefer one another more highly than ourselves. We love being parents (and grandparents) both to our adult children and to our younger ones at home.  God's heart for the orphan and those misunderstood is outworked in us through our commitment to parent and contend for healing for five children with special needs.   God is on a 'brain campaign' and our journey with these special ones has been one testimony after another of His great grace!   We have made a firm decision that Jesus will write the script of our lives.  We feel crazy blessed to be able to partner both as pastors and parents and delight in the dance of life that it requires.  We are honoured to be a small part of equipping the saints to fulfill the Great Commission in this strategic hour.

Andy Luchies - Associate Pastor

I'm a Christian, a husband, a father and a leader (in that order), and by God's grace getting better at all four.
I grew up in the church but was distracted by the world for much of my teenage years. I had always known God existed but came to a cross-roads when I realized if God is real, there's nothing more important than getting to know the most powerful being in existence--and there's nothing more stupid than not caring what he thinks about me. Since then, I haven't looked back because all the evidence I can find assures me I'm going in the right direction.

I grew up in the Christian Reformed Church (a conservative denomination) and am thankful for all God taught me through their influence. While I was in the U.S. Army infantry I met some Charismatic Christians and as we talked I realized their views were more biblical than my own! At the same time some crazy spiritual experiences and miracles while in Iraq convinced me God was very active on the earth today--as well as demonic forces. I realized my current faith needed an infusion beyond intellectual belief and I started a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit.
In this generation, I believe God desires to remarry the solid, word-based church with the experiential spirit-based church so that the divorce between the two can be healed. I long to be used by God to see that happen.

I love apologetics: defending Christianity and exposing the lies in other religious beliefs). If you have any questions about God, the Bible, science, religions, etc. I'd love to chat (whether I have the answers or not). The Truth should never run away from facts, evidence or rational logic.

I love sports and exercise, especially things that involve rough physical contact. There's something really spiritual about men fully exerting themselves to be the best they can be in a test of strength or endurance. Contrary to what some have experienced, Christianity is not supposed to make men more feminine. It's about turning weak, insecure men into strong, confident men. This is essential because as Christians, we are being trained for a spiritual war that's far more violent than any sport you've seen.

I'm a lazy adventure seeker--meaning I won't usually go out of my way to find exciting things to do, but when they creep up on me I enjoy anything that looks scary so invite me out! I know Jesus Christ as my Saviour so I don't fear death or pain, but hopefully I don't throw common sense out the window at the same time...

I hope one day God gives me the luxury of being martyred. I cannot think of a better way to go out of this world than in sacrificial allegiance to my Creator. Ideally this will happen when I'm old and gray and have run the race with excellence.

There's lots more to say but that's enough to start, please drop me a line if you want to chat!
